EMATS Inc. has awarded $30,000 to high schools in Southwest Virginia to support educational initiatives for the 2006-2007 school year. Honaker, Lebanon, Richlands and Ervinton high schools each received $7,500. The donations are part of a mini-grant program established by the Cedar Bluff, Va.-based energy management company in 2003 to support high schools in areas where EMATS has significant business ventures. Since implementing its program, EMATS has contributed more than $100,000 to schools in Virginia, Michigan and Wyoming.
EMATS contributed more than $12,000 to Honaker, Richlands and Lebanon high schools in spring 2006, and this marked the first year that Ervinton High School has received a donation from the company.
“It’s extremely important for us to support our local schools as much as possible,” said Jon Bowerbank, founder, president and CEO of EMATS. “We are privileged to have an opportunity to make a positive impact on the learning experience of so many students.” |
