In early 2007, I founded a 501(c)3 corporation named the SW Virginia Athletic
Facilities Foundation to construct 2 multipurpose playing fields at Honaker in ’07 and Richlands in ‘08. As most of you know, the Honaker field is now complete and was christened with the 5th Annual EMATS Clinch River Classic game on August 31st. Although EMATS, Inc., generates the vast majority of the funds required for this project, other community entities and individuals provided their skills and resources to help turn this concept into a wonderful reality. This field is a testament to what can be collectively accomplished when people work together for common goal of helping to improve their community.
